Utah Studies--Thursday, January 8, 2009

I apologize for forgetting to post yesterday.  In all classes, students participated in the preliminary rounds of the geography bee.  Congratulations to those who survived to the school finals: Nikki Griffiths, Josh Lemieux, Ben Hopkins, Brynn Lawrence, Jake Makin, Braxton Cash, Quentin Ochoa, James Jolley, Brandie Herrera, Jordan Jarvis, Alex Perry, and Braden Hooten.

Today in Period 1 students had a chance to work on late learning centers if they needed to.  DUE TOMORROW: The final deadline for late work for quarter 2 is at 2:45 pm tomorrow!  You must get your work in by then.

Today in Period 2 students examined key moments and places along the Mormon Trail to Utah.  DUE TOMORROW: Be prepared for the short Rise and Stretch quiz on what brought the LDS people to Utah.  Also, the final deadline for late work for quarter 2 is at 2:45 pm tomorrow!  You must get your work in by then.

Today in Periods 3-7 students began to analyze how Brigham Young's aspirations for a self-sufficient economy were dramatically affected by the arrival of the train in Utah.  DUE TOMORROW: The final deadline for late work for quarter 2 is at 2:45 pm tomorrow!  You must get your work in by then.
