Today in class students read an article about the effects of the Mexican-American War. Then they wrote a short 1/2 page essay about how Utah would be different if Mexico had won that war. Yesterday, I was out sick, but students read about and took notes on what happened in Utah during the Spanish/Mexican era--things like the trappers, the US government explorers, and the arrival of the LDS people in 1847. DUE MONDAY: Students essays about if Mexico had won the Mexican-American War are due at the start of class.

In class on Friday, students finished taking notes about the various Native American cultures that are native to Utah. They then turned these in for a grade. DUE WEDNESDAY: Nothing.
