Utah Studies--Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Today in class students learned about my Learning Centers homework program. Students must complete 10 points in homework by each due date (about 3 weeks apart) for a total of 30 points per quarter. (Except my ELP students, who need to earn 50 points per quarter.) Students can choose from a list of different homework options in order to earn their points. After discussing Learning Centers, students then listened to a retelling of the Navajo creation story, as an introduction to our Utah Native American unit. DUE TOMORROW: Nothing.

Utah Studies--Monday, August 16, 2010

Welcome back to school! On the first day we took some time to get to know each other better. I showed students an FBI file all about me--just kidding! But seriously, I did tell them about me and then I had them begin to work on an "FBI X-File" about themselves. DUE TOMORROW: Nothing, as we will finish the X-Files in class.

Utah Studies--Thursday, August 12, 2010

Welcome to Back to School night! Now that I am teaching at Glendale Middle School, I am excited to meet all of you. (Although I will miss the Fort Herriman community, too!) I believe we have an exciting and challenging new opportunity with the federal grant that Glendale earned. I think that the extra time, extra money, and extra expertise in this school will help our students immensely. We have been presented with a great opportunity!

Finally, this blog is designed to help students check up on what we did in class each day, what was due that day, and what will be due in the future. Also, I will provide a link to certain assignments so you can print them at home if you'd like additional copies from the ones I hand out in class.
