Today in Period 1, 3-7 students took the Quarter 4 Test.  DUE TOMORROW:  Eligible late work MUST be turned in by tomorrow @ 2:45 PM to Mr. Shake's completed work box.  Eligible assignments include all late learning centers and any assignment that was originally due after May 8.

Today in Period 1, 3-7 students began reviewing for the Quarter 4 test on Thursday.  DUE TOMORROW: Nothing, but this week is the very last week you can turn in eligible late work.  Students can still turn in any late learning centers and any other missing assignment that had an original due date of May 8th or later.

Today in Period 2 students read a current event article about a little known location in Utah--a Hare Krishna Hindu temple near Springville.  DUE TOMORROW: Nothing, but this week is the very last week you can turn in eligible late work.  Students can still turn in any late learning centers and any other missing assignment that had an original due date of May 8th or later.

Today in Period 1, 3-7 students learned about issues facing Utah today.  Also Learning Center check #3 was due today.  DUE TUESDAY: Nothing, but if students failed to complete all their learning centers they can turn those in late next week any time before Friday May 29 @ 2:45 pm.  This is my late work cut-off date for 4th quarter.  Nothing completed prior to this date will be accepted after this time.

Utah Studies--Thursday, May 21, 2009

Today in Period 1, 3-7 students examined how the civil right movement impacted Utah and the US.  They also listened to music from the 1960's that discussed current issues of the day.  DUE TOMORROW: Learning center check #3 worth 15 points! (10 points for Period 1.)

Today in Period 2 students reviewed for the 4th Quarter Test.  DUE TOMORROW: Study for the test and learning center check #3 worth 10 points!

Utah Studies--Tuesday, May 19, 2009

Today in Period 1, 3-7 students learned about key Cold War events during the Kennedy administration and also read about Utahns reactions to the Vietnam War.  DUE TOMORROW: Nothing, but don't forget learning centers on Friday!

Today in Period 2 students finished discussing some key political issues in modern Utah (such as the economy and war in Iraq and Afghanistan).  DUE TOMORROW:  Nothing, but don't forget learning centers on Friday!

Today in Period 1, 3-7 students began learning about how the Cold War impacted Utah.  DUE TOMORROW: Nothing, but the due date for learning centers is Friday!  To be on schedule, students should have done 50 points in total learning centers by Friday (30 points for period 1).

Utah Studies--Wednesday, May 12, 2009

Today in Periods 1, 3-7 students took a short quiz on "Journey to Topaz." Then we discussed proper behavior for the substitute I will be having from Wednesday through Friday.  This means I will not be posting on my blog those days.  DUE BY END OF CLASS FRIDAY:  "Journey to Topaz" comprehension questions, chapters 13-17.  Also, as many summaries as possible from "Utah World War II Stories."

Today in Period 2 students took a quiz on World War II.  Then we continued learning about the Cold War's effect on Utah.  Finally we discussed proper behavior for the substitute I will be having from Wednesday through Friday.  This means I will not be posting on my blog those days.  DUE BY END OF CLASS FRIDAY: Readings on Vietnam and civil rights, Chapter 14 questions, and as many summaries as possible from "Utah World War II Stories."
