Today in Period 1 students turned in learning centers.  They also continued watching the Joe Hill film while working on learning centers.  DUE TUESDAY: Nothing.

Today in Period 2 students turned in learning centers and continued working on their rough drafts.  DUE TUESDAY:  Rough drafts must be finished and taken to Mrs. Spitzer's room!

Today in Period 3-7 students turned in learning centers.  Then they finished watching the Joe Hill film and taking notes.  DUE TUESDAY: Nothing.

Today in Period 1 students took a quiz and began watching a film about the murder trial of a Swedish immigrant to Utah named Joe Hill who also happened to be a member of the controversial Industrial Workers of the World.  DUE TOMORROW: Nothing, but 10 points in learning centers are due on Thursday.

Today in Period 2 students finished preparing on how to write their persuasive essays.  DUE TOMORROW: Nothing.

Today in Period 3-7 students began learning the history of mining and labor in Utah.  Then they began watching a film about the murder trial of a Swedish immigrant to Utah named Joe Hill who also happened to be a member of the controversial Industrial Workers of the World.  DUE TOMORROW: Nothing, but 15 points in learning centers are due on Thursday.

Today in Period 2 students continued preparing for their essay and prepared for conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday.  DUE TOMORROW: Nothing.

Today in Period 3, 5-7 students took a vocabulary quiz.  Then they prepared for conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday.  DUE TOMORROW: Final drafts of your essay!

Today in Period 1 students continued their rough drafts.  DUE MONDAY: Rough draft must be complete!!!!!

Today in Period 2 students took a quiz on social studies vocabulary.  Then we began to work on an essay that will be due later next week.  DUE MONDAY: Nothing.

Today in Period 3-7 students had to have their rough drafts done.  Then we studied vocabulary and began our Utah mining unit.  DUE MONDAY: Nothing, but the final draft of the 60 point essay is due Tuesday!

Today in Period 2 students learned about the Italian and Japanese immigrants that came to Utah around the turn of the 20th century.  DUE TOMORROW: Study for the vocabulary quiz that we will have tomorrow.

Today in Period 2 there was no class due the counselors coming to talk about making students making their 8th grade schedules.  DUE TOMORROW: The quiz that was to be today is postponed until tomorrow.

Today in Period 1, 3-7 students finished learning about Utah's main immigrant groups from the 1860's to the 1920's.  Then we re-reviewed the functions of Utah's three branches of government, due to the difficulties students had with that topic last time.  DUE TOMORROW: Quiz on the branches of government.

Today in Period 2 students studied the women's suffrage movement in Utah that legalized women's voting in 1896.  DUE TOMORROW: Nothing.

Today in Periods 1, 3-7 students learned about immigration to Utah between the 1860's to the 1920's.  They focused on learning about Chinese immigrants.  DUE TOMORROW:  20 points in learning centers (10 for Period 1) AND study for the short immigration quiz tomorrow!!!!!!

Today in Period 2 students played a practice round of the democracy game.  DUE TOMORROW:  10 points in learning centers!!!!!!

Today in Period 1, 3-7 students began to learn about immigration to Utah from the 1860's to the 1920's.  They also were told about how they need to investigate the first people in their families (either mom's side, dad's side, or step-parents too).  They have a series of questions about the first immigrants to Utah in their family that they need help from parents, etc. in answering.  These interview questions are due by Monday at the latest.  DUE TOMORROW: Nothing, but learning center check 1 is Friday!

Today in Period 2 students took a test over the key themes of the last few units.  DUE TOMORROW: Nothing, but learning center check #1 is Friday! (10 points due)
