Today in class students finished their investigations into the reasons behind the Japanese-American imprisonment during World War II. Then they began watching "Utah World War II Stories: Europe" that interviews Utah World War II veterans about their experiences. DUE TOMORROW: Nothing.

Utah Studies

Today students learned about how World War II began, how it affected Utah, and how Utahns helped win the war. DUE MONDAY: Nothing, but if you have late learning centers please turn them in.

US History

Today in 1st period, students finished reading quotes from the US Declaration of Independence. In 7th period, students examined the different reasons why some colonists remained loyal to Britain (they were called "Tories" or "Loyalists") and why others rebelled against Britain (called "Patriots"). DUE MONDAY: Nothing.

US History

Today in class students continued examining the words of Thomas Paine's "Common Sense," where he argued for independence from Britain. We discussed a few quotes and analyzed what he meant. DUE TOMORROW: Nothing.

Utah Studies

Today in class students compared Hoover's plan to end the Great Depression to Roosevelt's plan (the New Deal). Students also listened to a song written during the Great Depression to get a better sense of the fear sweeping the country in those days. DUE TOMORROW: Learning Center Check #2 is due (20 points for Period 2; 10 points for Period 4-6).

Today in class students compared their family immigrating to Utah to another immigrant group that came to Utah. They created a Venn Diagram and wrote 1 paragraph about how the two were similar and/or different. DUE TOMORROW: Nothing.
