Utah Studies--Thursday, November 20, 2008

I apologize for forgetting to post yesterday.  So here is a synopsis of the last two days.

Yesterday in Periods 1, 3-7 students began learning how to write their persuasive essays about the settlement of Utah.  Today these classes continued learning how to write their persuasive essays.  They then began working on the essays for the last 15 minutes of class.  The rough draft of the essay will be due Monday at the start of class.  The final draft (worth 60 points) will be edited in Mr. Jones' class on Tuesday and then it is due Wednesday!  DUE TOMORROW: 20 points in learning centers! (10 points for Period 1)

Yesterday in Period 2 students continued to learn about Utah's trappers.  They also began writing a letter to a trapper where they related what they'd learned about trappers.  Today, they finished this letter and then studied the legacy of US government explorers in Utah (like Gunnison and Fremont).  DUE TOMORROW: 10 points in learning centers!
