Utah Studies-Monday, May 5, 2008

Today in Periods 1-4, 6 students continued reading Journey to Topaz.  DUE TOMORROW: Chapter 13-17 Questions and the KWL

Today in Period 5, we began a new unit, this one dealing with modern Utah from post-World War II era to today.  Students began by learning about Utah's role in the Cold War.  We discussed the development of Minutemen missiles by Thiokol, a Utah company, to the tragedy of Utah's "downwinders" who were exposed to nuclear radiation due to government nuclear bomb tests in the 1950's and 1960's. DUE TOMORROW: Nothing, unless you want to turn in some learning centers.
