Utah Studies
Today in class students read oral interviews with modern-day Utah Latinos. Then they began writing summaries about these articles. DUE TOMORROW: Summaries!
US History
Today in class students finished determining ways that the Alien and Sedition Acts and the PATRIOT Act may or may not violate the US Constitution. Then they wrote a short essay on the subject. DUE TOMORROW: Students must have these essays finished and turned in at the start of class.

Utah Studies
Today in class students read about the Mexican-American War and how that changed history for both countries, especially in Utah which once belonged to Mexico. DUE TOMORROW: Must finish the short essay we were working on about how life would be different if Utah was still a part of Mexico.
US History
Today in class students read the rules within the Alien and Sedition Acts and the PATRIOT Act. They then began to assess whether these laws were/are constitutional or not. DUE TOMORROW: Essay about why these laws are or are not constitutional.

Today in class students learned about the 5 Modern Nations of Utah Native Americans including the Shoshone, Utes, Goshutes, Paiutes, and Navajos. DUE TOMORROW: Nothing.

Today in class students shared one specific example that they felt shows why parts of the US Constitution were fair or unfair. They also had to explain why they believe what they do. DUE TOMORROW: Students who haven't presented on this subject yet will have to do so.

Today students evaluated the fairness of the Constitution by re-reading what we have learned about it and then writing a short essay about how fair it is (in their opinion) and why they believe that. DUE TOMORROW: Students will present their judgements.

Today in class students met with either East High or Highland High counselors about high school registration. The counselors will be back on Thursday to register them for 9th grade classes online. In the meantime, students will need to have parents look over their next year's plans. The students have the forms and can bring them home tonight. Also students may need signatures from some of their 8th grade teachers in order to enroll in certain classes. DUE TOMORROW: Nothing. DUE THURSDAY: High school registration forms!
