A DAY: Today students learned about 4 groups from the first major non-LDS immigration wave that occurred here from the 1860's to the 1920's. These people were the Chinese, Italians, Japanese, and Greeks. DUE TODAY: Nothing. DUE SOON: Family vs. Immigrant Group Venn Diagrams (end of next class).

A DAY: Today in class students learned about the how the Mexican War of 1846-8 affected Utah, the United States, and Mexico. Students then wrote an essay about how their lives might be different if Mexico still controlled Utah and other southwestern states. DUE TODAY: Signed Grade Print-offs and "What if..." Essay. DUE SOON: Family vs. Immigrant Group Venn Diagram.

A DAY: Today in class students took notes on Utah's early and middle period Native Americans. This covers Paleo-Indians, Desert Archaic cultures, as well as the Fremont and Anasazi. Then we read about Utah's 5 modern Native American nations: Shoshone, Ute, Goshute, Paiute, and Navajo. DUE TODAY: Nothing. DUE NEXT TIME: Family Immigration Interviews (must be done as homework)!
